Dear visiter/ follower/ friend:
Welcome to my should-be-monthly update… I’m glad I found a minute of free time in between the concerts to write you about my most recent adventures. Again I find it difficult to name only a few highlights, because there were simply too many…
But off course let’s start with the JvD4We had the pleasure to celebrate the release of the vinyl version of our album “Dear John” with some live performances, and I was completely blown away by all the positive response, great audiences, hard working promotors and hospitality at the venues! The band was swinging so hard, I regret I didn’t make a live recording. First edition of the vinyl is almost sold out!!! Only a few more available for next months. You can contact me for a personal copy, we ship world wide. A big thank you to all the people who posted a picture of their purchased copy on Facebook, including a nice review! The picture I liked most was from Lee Melvin from the UK, I used his picture for this update! Keep on going guys! These kind of things simply make my day. No….. week!!!
Some other things that I want to share with you is that our horn section The Special Request Horns will be playing for 15 years this year! We will have some big surprises later on to celebrate this with you, but for now we are just looking forward to the upcoming records of Candy Dulfer and Di-rect, with a huge SR-Horns flavor over it to start with…. Di-rect’s EP is already out, including their hit single Fired Up, arranged by yours truly. To be continued…!
Another record that I am still looking forward to is the debut of my close friend Lodewijk van Gorp. I will write an update for you as soon as this guy finishes his album!
The Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw will be performing in November with the legendary organ player Lonnie Smith! (Yesh, the legend I got to tour with last July!) Please check my agenda for tour dates and make sure you will personally witness this gentlemen tearing down the roof together with the Jazz Orchestra!
For those of you who never heard about the magnificent Georgie Fame, Check this guy out. One of my personal favorite jazz singers with just an incredible timing, intonation and SWING! He will join our band in december for a little christmas-tour.
That’s all for now, I will keep you posted as soon as possible!
All the best to you all.
Jan
